Busting 3 AI Myths
We talk a lot about AI. We say it’s changing everything but, if we’re honest, too many small business owners are still out of the loop. Not because they’re not smart. But because there’s so much noise, so many buzzwords and false myths.
Let’s clear the air! Here are three myths about AI and small businesses that I think we need to bury once and for all.
Myth #1 “Since we use GPT, we’re an AI-first company.”
No. You’re just chatting with a robot. That’s not strategy nor transformation.
Using ChatGPT or Midjourney or any tool is not the same as building your business around AI. Real adoption means looking at your processes, understanding your bottlenecks. Asking the hard questions: where are we losing time? Where are we burning resources? Where are we still stuck doing things the old way?
At Webidoo, we’ve helped dozens of companies go through this exercise. And every time, the breakthrough doesn’t come from a new software. It comes from a new perspective. AI doesn’t replace your strategy… it accelerates it. But only if you know where you’re going.
Myth number #2 “AI is too expensive and takes too long.”
False. Completely false.
Most of the best AI tools out there today are either free or cost less than your daily lunch. And the time you spend complaining about complexity? You could use it to watch a 10-minute tutorial. Or, even better, partner with someone who’s already walked the path.
Myth #3 “We’re too small to compete. AI is for the big guys.”
I love this one. Because it’s the most human. It comes from fear, from that sense of being overwhelmed, from thinking: “We don’t have an IT department. We don’t have a lab. We don’t have the budget.” But guess what? You don’t need any of that.
What you have is speed, focus, hunger… and that’s your edge. Small companies don’t have the luxury of waiting 6 months for a committee decision. You see a problem, you fix it. You see an opportunity, you move. That agility, combined with the power of AI, is a killer combination.
David didn’t beat Goliath with size. He beat him with precision.
So no, AI is not the exclusive playground of Fortune 500s. It’s your new competitive weapon. You just have to be bold enough to use it.
